Fender Japan is going full kaiju for Godzilla’s 70th anniversary year, unveiling a special collection that fuses monster sized power with pure rock energy. The lineup includes three guitars, a limited edition pick set, new apparel, and even a distortion pedal that roars like the King of the Monsters!
Guitars Built for Legends

At the top of the lineup is the Masterbuilt Godzilla Stratocaster®, a one-of-a-kind creation from Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Andy Hicks and Los Angeles artist Tom Neely. This hand-crafted showpiece not only looks incredible…. it can also literally roar like Godzilla through an amp at the press of a button.

“My love for Godzilla began when I was very young, definitely my earliest fandom,” said Andy Hicks. “This guitar unites my two greatest passions, Godzilla and the guitar. The front features the iconic Heisei era Godzilla in monochrome as a tribute to its origins, while the back showcases Godzilla’s evolution across eras, from Showa to Heisei, Millennium, Shin Godzilla, and Godzilla Minus One. My favorite detail is the special mechanism, with the push of a button, the legendary roar thunders through the amp, a true union between the King of Monsters and the King of Guitars.”

“I first encountered Godzilla as a child watching late night TV movies, and I have been a devoted fan ever since,” said Tom Neely. “For the front of the guitar, working with Andy Hicks, we featured a black and white Godzilla with a blue blast to complement the neck inlay, capturing the spirit of the Heisei era films. For the back, to celebrate Godzilla’s 70th anniversary, we created a montage of seven Godzillas, from the 1954 original to Godzilla Minus One, and added neon paint that glows under black light for a dynamic effect. As a lifelong fan of music, Godzilla, and Japanese culture, I am honored to have taken on my first custom painted guitar for such a historic milestone.”

Two Made in Japan Godzilla Stratocasters® join the collection as well, one in bold blue and the other in sleek black. Each model features a custom humbucker pickup and a GLO system that lights up the pickguard like Godzilla’s dorsal fins when the distortion kicks in. The black version, available only at the Fender Flagship Tokyo and the official online store, comes with a serial numbered neck plate for collectors.
Picks, Pedals, and More

The Fender x Godzilla 12-piece pick set comes in a tin embossed with a footprint design that looks like it stomped straight through the metal. The various picks inside feature everything from Godzilla’s face to katakana Fender logos.

Coming in spring 2026, the Godzilla Distortion Pedal promises a wall shaking sound that lives up to the name, blending heavy rhythm tones with searing leads.

The F IS FOR FENDER apparel line also joins in with two special T shirts and a cap embroidered with the classic ゴジラ logo. These items, made in Japan, will be available exclusively at Fender Flagship Tokyo starting October 11.

When Music Meets Monsters
From the very first film in 1954 to the global success of Godzilla Minus One, the world’s most famous kaiju has stood as a symbol of power and evolution. This new collaboration captures that same spirit, merging Fender’s legendary craftsmanship with a pop culture icon that still shakes the earth after seventy years.

A Live Reveal at Fender Flagship Tokyo

The Godzilla guitar collaboration made its public debut during FENDER EXPERIENCE 2025, a free hands-on event held at Fender Flagship Tokyo from October 11 to 13. The showcase brought together musicians, creators, and fans to celebrate the launch of the Fender x Godzilla Collection with live performances and special guests.
The event continued with a special session featuring guitarist Marty Friedman, comedian Hikaru “Hikorohi”, and Custom Shop Master Builder Andy Hicks, who unveiled the Godzilla collaboration guitars on stage before performing a live rendition of Godzilla’s theme song together. To cap off the presentation, Godzilla also made a surprise appearance.
“I have been a fan since I was five years old,” Hicks said. “No matter which famous artist I have built a guitar for, standing here today with this Godzilla guitar and the real Godzilla is truly an unforgettable experience.”
