GODZILLA Interception Operation: Before the Mission Reveals the Awaji Island Attraction’s Hidden Past

The story behind Godzilla’s arrival on Awaji Island is about to be uncovered! GODZILLA Interception Operation: Before the Mission is a new interactive mystery-solving attraction launching at Nijigen no Mori in Japan on September 18, 2026.

The experience serves as a prequel to Godzilla Interception Operation, taking participants back to the events before Godzilla appeared on the island. Players join the organization known as NIGOD as newly assigned personnel tasked with recovering data hidden by a missing researcher.

Photographs, newspaper articles, and other clues contain information about Godzilla’s behavioral characteristics. By examining the evidence and solving a series of puzzles, participants must collect the concealed materials and help prepare the organization’s interception plan.

Guests who successfully complete the mission will receive an original Godzilla Interception Operation novelty item available exclusively through the new experience.

GODZILLA Interception Operation: Before the Mission takes place inside the Godzilla Interception Operation area at Nijigen no Mori, an entertainment destination located within Hyogo Prefectural Awaji Island Park.

The main Godzilla Interception Operation attraction is built around a life-size Godzilla measuring 120 meters in length. Visitors become members of the National Godzilla Awaji Island Research Center and undertake missions connected to the enormous creature.

Activities include a zipline that sends participants toward and inside Godzilla’s body, along with a shooting game centered on eliminating cells scattered throughout the area. The new prequel expands that storyline by revealing what happened before the operation began.

The surrounding complex also features the Godzilla Museum, the world’s first permanent museum of its kind. Younger visitors can explore the indoor Kaiju no Mori play area, which includes around 50 varieties of kaiju soft vinyl figures. Attraction-themed food, figures, apparel, snacks, and other Nijigen no Mori-exclusive merchandise are available nearby.

By revealing the attraction’s untold beginnings, GODZILLA Interception Operation: Before the Mission adds another chapter to a complete Godzilla destination featuring outdoor missions, museum exhibits, exclusive goods, and themed dining.
