Exclusive First Look: 'Godzilla' #1 & 'Escape the Deadzone' #1 Covers

IDW Publishing's all-new interconnected line of King of the Monsters comics is just weeks away from kicking off its "Kai-Sei Era" in the Free Comic Book Day Godzilla: The New Heroes issue on May 3. To tide fans over as they await the line's flagship Godzilla #1 launch on July 23, plus the August 6 launch of Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #1, the publisher has provided us with an exclusive first look at each series' variant covers, plus the retailer incentive Kai-Sei Godzilla enamel pin.

Godzilla #1 by writer Tim Seeley and artist Nikola Čižmešija will include the following covers:

Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #1 by writers Ethan Parker and Griffin Sheridan and artist Pablo Tunica will include these variants and incentives:

Rounding out the Kai-sei line on October 1 is the launch of Starship Godzilla #1 by writer Chris Gooch and artist Oliver Ono.

"We wanted the covers of the Kai-Sei Era to stand out. Both from everything we've done before, and from everything else on the shelf," wrote Godzilla editor Jake Smith, "Nikola Cizmesija and Pablo Tunica shattered all expectations we had for these covers.
