A new food collaboration between Godzilla and Japanese restaurant chain Ichikakuya is now underway across Japan, bringing kaiju energy into the everyday ramen experience. The Godzilla vs. Ichikakuya Ramen campaign runs through April 13 and marks Godzilla’s first official partnership with a Japanese ramen chain, with participating locations offering Godzilla themed menu items and limited merchandise.
But first, a few words about the food: ie-kei ramen in Japan is known for its rich pork bone and soy-based broth, medium-thick noodles, and classic toppings like sliced pork, spinach, and seaweed. It’s a filling, bold style that emphasizes volume and intensity, making it a natural fit for the King of the Monsters.
The Godzilla vs. Ichikakuya Ramen collaboration features two variations built on ie-kei ramen. The BLACK version leans toward a darker, richer profile, emphasizing depth and savoriness, while the RED version adds a spicy accent designed to bring heat and visual contrast to the standard pork bone and soy-based broth.
A small lineup of special goods is available at select Ichikakuya Ramen locations. Items include blind-pack trading can badges with multiple Godzilla designs, acrylic stand figures sold in randomized packaging, and a Godzilla-branded tote bag. Godzilla soup spoons, ramen bowls, and tote bags are also available.
A recent visit to Ichikakuya turned into a close encounter with the Godzilla BLACK ramen. The piping hot broth delivered a deep garlic-forward punch that worked well with the generous mound of shredded seaweed and cabbage layered on top. Each collaboration order includes a free sticker, with this visit yielding a Shin Godzilla design.
Unlike pop-up cafes or limited exhibitions, the collaboration is embedded into Ichikakuya’s regular shops, making it easy to encounter a kaiju during a routine meal. For international visitors, it offers an easy and tasty way to experience a Japan-only Godzilla crossover.
