The King of the Monsters has officially gone tabletop! The new Godzilla Card Game transforms decades of cinematic destruction into a fast and accessible trading card experience. Designed for kaiju fans of every era, from Showa to Reiwa, this game turns the world of Godzilla into a duel of invasion, counterattacks, and rising fury. Whether you lead Godzilla or another towering titan, victory will go to the player who masters both attack and defense.
A new video posted to the official Godzilla YouTube channel gives beginners a quick and easy way to learn the rules and gameplay.
Command Monsters, Conquer Zones
Each player builds a Main Deck of 50 cards and a Monster Deck containing four monsters ranked I through IV. You will also keep Rage Cards on hand to track your monster’s growing power during battle. The goal is simple: win through Victory by Invasion or Victory by Countering. Invade your opponent’s battlefield first to claim an invasion victory, or counter their Monster Card four times with Battle Cards to win by countering.
The game unfolds in distinct phases. In the Start Phase, players draw cards equal to the rank of their opponent’s Monster Card. During the Main Phase, you can deploy Battle Cards, use Strategy Cards, advance your Monster Card across zones, or build up Rage for later turns. Every action and discard matters, and success depends on timing, card synergy, and smart deck design.
Each card type plays a unique role in the fight. Monster Cards represent the kaiju leading your invasion. Battle Cards allow you to defend or retaliate against opposing monsters. Strategy Cards provide special abilities that can alter the course of play. Rage Cards increase your monster’s strength, raising its Threat Level and setting the stage for game-changing counterattacks.
