TohoScope Launches at Alamo Drafthouse in April With Classic Kaiju Films and Exclusive Merch
03/23/2026
Big-screen monster mayhem is coming this April! Alamo Drafthouse is launching TohoScope, a new monthly screening series built around films from the King of the Monsters’ catalog. The program will bring classic kaiju favorites and other TOHO studio titles from Japan back to theaters, along with themed food and drinks, exclusive merchandise, and screening-specific extras.
The series opens with Terror of Mechagodzilla, giving fans a chance to see this classic 1975 film back on the big screen. Guests attending the April screenings can also pick up a limited-edition Mechagodzilla T-shirt designed by Scott Sugiuchi, available only at those shows.
More Alamo Drafthouse x Godzilla merchandise is already available online, including an exclusive Godzilla popcorn bucket and Mothra mug through AlamoMart. Additional items are planned to arrive alongside future TohoScope screenings, helping turn the series into a special event for fans.
The TohoScope lineup will continue through the summer. May is set for Godzilla vs. Hedorah, with an exclusive Hedorah pint glass add-on and a limited-edition Godzilla hooded blanket available online. June will feature Godzilla vs. Biollante with a Biollante enamel pin set add-on. July’s title has not been announced yet, but Alamo says the month will include a mystery TOHO film and a presale for a new Mechagodzilla popcorn bucket.
Each TohoScope screening will also feature a custom food and beverage menu tied to the series. Planned items include drinks like Blue Fire and Godzilla Punch, along with food such as Monster Fries and Boneless King Wings.
Rather than treating these films as one-day bookings, TohoScope is being presented as an ongoing series built around rare theatrical screenings and fan-friendly extras. For anyone who wants to experience classic cinema on a kaiju-sized scale, TohoScope at Alamo Drafthouse promises to make each screening an unforgettable event.
