Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game Kickstarter Goes Live with Card-Based Combat and Exclusive Collector Tiers
03/04/2026
IDW Games has launched the Kickstarter campaign for Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game! The project is now live and marks the first dedicated tabletop RPG built entirely around the King of the Monsters. Developed by IDW Games and co-created by Warhammer gaming legends Jervis Johnson, Mark A. Latham, and Gav Thorpe, the game brings together decades of design experience.
A new trailer video for Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game has also been released, giving fans a look at the cinematic, kaiju-sized combat that awaits.
The system for Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game replaces traditional dice with standard 52-card decks, introducing a fresh approach to monster-scale storytelling. Each draw shapes the momentum of the mission, pushing players to think tactically as they respond to escalating attacks in their roles as members of G-Force.
The Kickstarter campaign offers multiple pledge tiers, each expanding the scope of the experience. The entry-level G-Force Recruit tier provides a digital wallpaper pack, the digital core rulebook hosted on the IDW app, and a digital edition of Godzilla (Kai-Sei Era) Volume 1. The G-Force Vanguard tier builds on that foundation by adding the physical Starter Set, designed to get players into action quickly.
The G-Force Commander tier includes the digital rewards along with a Kickstarter-exclusive collector’s edition of the core rulebook. The Kaiju Fanatic tier combines that exclusive rulebook with the Starter Set, creating a more complete physical package for backers who want both streamlined entry play and expanded rules.
At the top sits the Kaiju Master tier, the most comprehensive option available. In addition to the digital rewards, backers to the campaign receive the Kickstarter-exclusive core rulebook, the full Starter Set, a Kickstarter-exclusive neoprene play mat featuring edge-to-edge kaiju artwork, deluxe card decks printed on high-grade cardstock with metallic foil backing and sprayed edges, and a highly detailed Godzilla miniature intended to serve as a centerpiece on the table.
For retailers, the G-Force Outpost tier provides four copies of the Starter Set, four copies of the Kickstarter-exclusive core rulebook, and four exclusive play mats, offering stores a way to support their local gaming communities with limited-edition materials.
The Kickstarter campaign for Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game runs for 30 days, with fulfillment expected in fall 2026. For longtime fans and tabletop players alike, this project offers something new: the chance to step directly into the crisis, command the response, and shape original Godzilla adventures from the ground up.
