Awaji GODZILLA Festival 2026 Brings Games, Prizes, and Kaiju Fun to Nijigen no Mori for Spring
03/23/2026
A new seasonal Godzilla event is underway at Awaji Island! Nijigen no Mori, the entertainment area inside Hyogo Prefectural Awaji Island Park, is launching Awaji GODZILLA Festival 2026 in Spring as a limited-time event running from March 14 through June 28, 2026.
The event will take place at the park’s popular Godzilla attraction, Godzilla Interception Operation, which centers on the giant life-size Godzilla installed on Awaji Island. During the festival period, guests who enter the attraction with either a Premium Ticket or VIP Journey Pass will be able to take part in three special games.
The Awaji GODZILLA Festival 2026 games include an archery challenge based on the story of Godzilla Interception Operation, a fan-tossing game inspired by a traditional Japanese pastime, and a hopping game where players move through circles on the ground using one foot and both feet in rhythm. Guests who score a combined total of 300 points or more across all three games will receive an original Japanese-pattern notebook exclusive to Nijigen no Mori. Those who score under 300 points will receive an original Japanese-pattern postcard.
The eligible ticket types also come with their own bonuses. Premium Ticket holders receive a Nijigen no Mori original Godzilla backpack, while VIP Journey Pass holders get an original Godzilla sukajan jacket.
Godzilla Interception Operation remains one of the park’s main draws. It features the world’s only entertainment attraction themed around a life-size Godzilla measuring 120 meters in length. Visitors join the National Godzilla Awaji Island Research Center and take on thrilling missions that include a zipline experience sending participants into Godzilla’s body and a shooting game focused on eliminating scattered Godzilla cells.
The area also includes the permanent Godzilla Museum, the first of its kind in the world, along with the indoor kids area Kaiju no Mori, where younger visitors can play with around 50 types of kaiju soft vinyl figures. Food and merchandise tied to the attraction are also available, including original goods sold only at Nijigen no Mori.
Visitors looking to turn the trip into an overnight stay can also check out the Godzilla collaboration rooms at the GRAND CHARIOT Hokutoshichisei 135° hotel. The Kaiju Land room was created to mark Godzilla’s 70th anniversary and brings together monsters from across the series. The room features interior art and tapestries showing past versions of Godzilla and other popular kaiju, as well as a view of part of the life-size Godzilla outside the window. Special lighting effects change the room’s atmosphere between day and night, and guests can also take on a special mission to find hidden monsters throughout the room for a bonus reward.
Another collaboration room, the Showa TOHO Kaiju Archive Room, accommodates up to two guests and decorates an entire villa around the world of Godzilla with a Showa-era retro theme. Original novelties for the room include a Godzilla faux leather coaster and a King Ghidorah design art board.
Taken together, Awaji GODZILLA Festival 2026 adds even more to an already packed Godzilla trip on Awaji Island. With limited-time games, event prizes, the massive Godzilla Interception Operation attraction, and themed places to stay nearby, Nijigen no Mori is an essential destination for fans of the King of the Monsters this spring.
