'Godzilla Minus One' Wins 8 Japanese Academy Awards, Including Best Picture
Godzilla Minus One has won 8 Awards of the Japanese Academy.
Godzilla just made a triumphant return to The Japanese Academy Awards.
Seven years after Shin Godzilla earned seven of the honors, Godzilla Minus One has been awarded eight honors, including Best Picture.

- Best Screenplay: Takashi Yamazaki
- Best Supporting Actress: Sakura Ando
- Best Cinematography: Kozo Shibasaki
- Best Lighting: Nariyuki Ueda
- Best Art Direction: Anri Jojo
- Best Sound: Hisafumi Takeuchi
- Best Editing: Ryuji Miyajima
These honors come just days before the Academy Awards in the United States, which nominated Godzilla Minus One Director, Writer, and Visual Effects Supervisor, Takashi Yamazaki, Visual Effects Supervisor Kiyoko Shibuya, CG Supervisor Masaki Takahashi, and FX Artist/Compositor Tatsuji Nojima for Best Visual Effects.
Godzilla Minus One has earned nearly $107 million dollars worldwide, including 6.01 billion yen in Japan, where it has been playing in theaters since November 3, 2023. The black and white version of the film, Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color, opened in Japan on January 12 and is also continuing its run.
The Japanese Academy Awards, known as The Japan Academy Film Prize, also awarded the late Godzilla Minus One producer Shuji Abe with the Chairman's Special Award.
