GODZILLA (1999-2004)
Godzilla overwhelms humankind at every turn.
With a looming new millennium came an all-new King of the Monsters in 1999’s Godzilla 2000. Returning to its ’60s and ’70s stature, Godzilla became more animalistic than ever, moving its muscular reptilian physique, peaked dorsal fins, and menacing mouth like a beast.
Millennium era Godzilla’s appearance evolved rapidly. By 2001’s Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-out Attack, a new, startlingly larger Godzilla roared through a crocodilian grimace and glowered through glassy opaque eyes.
Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla featured the return of the kaiju's glaring eyes and dramatic dorsal fins, plus new reptilian scales on the kaiju's neck and face.
2004’s Godzilla: Final Wars melded the fan-favorite features from multiple eras, with more classic dorsal fins, a scaled-back tail, and an athletic build capable of the dynamic movement needed to best a barrage of increasingly powerful foes.
