'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' Renewed for Second Season on Apple TV+

Apple TV+ and Legendary's new deal means multiple Monsterverse spinoff series.

The King of the Monsters will officially continue stomping into streaming. Following Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's two-weekend reign at the box office, Apple TV+ and Legendary have announced the expansion of their Monsterverse partnership. Not only has the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters streaming series been renewed for a second season, the partners will create multiple other Monsterverse spin-offs.

Executive producers include Safehouse Pictures' Chris Black, Matt Fraction, Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell, plus Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville and Jen Roskind. Toho Co., Ltd. executive producers include Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 1 starred Kurt Russel (older) and son Wyatt Russel (younger) as Army officer Lee Shaw, Anna Sawai as Cate Randa, Kiersey Clemons as May, Ren Watabe as Kentaro, Mari Yamamoto as Keiko, Anders Holm as Bill Randa, John Goodman as older Bill Randa, Joe Tippett as Tim, and Elisa Lasowski as Duvall. The debut season told the story of families intrinsically tied to the modern history of the Monsterverse's Titans and Hollow Earth across two time periods.

"We couldn’t be more excited for viewers to not only have the chance to experience even more thrills in season two, but to embark on epic, new journeys in the franchise, as we expand Legendary’s Monsterverse."

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 will continue Legendary's Monsterverse franchise, which kicked off with 2014's Godzilla movie, followed by 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, 2023's Monarch: Legacy of Monsters streaming series, and 2024's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
