IDW Publishing keeps the kaiju comics coming month in and month out with a steady range of Godzilla one-shots, miniseries, and graphic novels including:
Godzilla: The War for Humanity
This 5-issue series written by Andrew MacLean (Head Lopper) with art by Jake Smith (Blood Force Trauma), follows Dr. Yuko Honda as the former Hedora victim works to earn Godzilla's help against the all-new fungal monster, Zoospora! It's currently on its second issue, with a collected edition expected in early 2024.
Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons
Writer Frank Tieri and artist Inaki Miranda imagine a 1500s encounter between explorer Sir Francis Drake and Godzilla, and a host of Toho's other iconic kaiju in a swashbuckling maritime monster myth. This series is currently on its 4th of 5 total issues, with a collected edition on the way in 2024.
Godzilla by James Stokoe Deluxe Edition
This collection joins Stokoe's Godzilla: Half-Century War miniseries with the creator's Godzilla in Hell story in a brand-new hardcover.
Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors--All Hail the King!
Writer Erik Burnham (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures) and artist Dan Schoening (Transformers/Ghostbusters: Ghosts of Cybertron) continue the adventures of three kaiju-connected middle schoolers as they battle new threats in the collected adventures of this a sequel to Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors--Rise Up!
Best-Ofs
Starting in 2022, IDW has been collecting special stories focused on individual kaiju from Godzilla's storied cannon. The most recent collection, Godzilla: Best of Mechagodzilla, dropped this month. Godzilla: Best of Gigan continues the series in December.
DC Comics and Legendary Comics
Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong
Writer Brian Buccellato (Injustice) and artist Christian Duce (Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point) show what happens when the DC Universe clashes with Godzilla, Kong, and more from Legendary's Monsterverse starting in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #1 on October 17. What's more, DC will be promoting the launch of the seven-issue series with variant covers across its core superhero titles including Action Comics #1057, Detective Comics #1074, Batman #138, Shazam! #4, Batman and Robin #2, and Green Lantern #4, releasing September 26-October 10.
